Known for its excellent fishing opportunities, Bribie Island offers both shore and boat fishing across a variety of spots like Donnybrook Jetty, along the Toorbul waterfront and Bongaree Jetty.
Bribie Island is also home to several popular beaches for shore fishing, including Woorim Beach, Sylvan Beach, Banksia Beach, Red Beach, and Skirmish Point. Whether you're fishing from the sand or out on the water, you're sure to find a great spot. The island boasts more than 10 boat ramps, giving easy access to prime fishing locations.
South of the Bribie Bridge, Bongaree Jetty reaches a depth of about 7.5 metres, attracting a variety of fish species, including mulloway, juvenile snapper, bream, flathead, cod, parrotfish, and Moses perch. Tailor are also common from June to August.
For a quieter fishing experience, head to the jetty early or late in the day to avoid crowds. If the jetty is busy, try casting from the nearby beaches or head further south to Red Beach for winter whiting.

White Patch: Known for juvenile snapper, bream, flathead, and sand crabs. Access is limited, and you'll need a 4WD for the tracks leading to this area.
Gallaghers Gutter: A great fishing spot near Gallaghers Campground, with bream, whiting, and flathead common here.
Poverty Creek Campground: Famous for mud crabs, this spot also offers bream, whiting, and flathead.
Mission Point Campground: Accessible only by boat, this spot is perfect for catching mangrove jack. The nearest boat ramp is at Donnybrook on the mainland.
Before casting your line in Pumicestone Passage, be aware of the fishing zones and regulations.
Long Island Green Zone: No fishing allowed in this area. You can pass through by boat, but must keep your fishing gear stowed.
General Pumicestone Passage Restrictions: Netting and trawling are strictly prohibited.
