Redcliffe RSL Museum

We have a great many items from the Boer War through to current conflicts and we have a group of volunteers who help us keep the Museum clean and tidy.

Of particular interest is the Bomb suit that was donated to us by 20EOD and that is on a mannequin in the MEAO Lounge area of the museum. Standing next to that is a life sized replica of ‘Devil’ one of our bomb detection dogs that lost his life in Afghanistan.

We also have a great range of hats and helmets from overseas including a Picklehaube Helmet from WW1, a Waffen SS officer’s cap and an authentic cap that belonged to Mussolini.

There are a large range of daggers and swords of all kinds, grenades and ammunition shells and many interesting artefacts to view.

The Museum is open every day during business hours and can be opened after hours for groups to visit if arrangements are made with the Curator.

We have had a number some Scout Groups view the Museum for their Heritage Badges and school groups come through for specific topics in relation to their study curriculum. We provide handouts to the students on their specific topic and the Scout Groups get a certificate of attendance.

History of Redcliffe RSL

In 1920, Shortly after the end of the Great War as it was known then, now known as the First World War (1914 – 1918), a small number of returned “Diggers” got together and decided to form a Sub-Branch of the newly formed (1916) Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia (RSSILA), so that they could help their fellow returned servicemen.

This ideal remains one of the core values and focus of our Club.
